Cunning machines

There’s a new pocket guide to the world of artificial intelligence about to hit bookstores. Guess what! It’s all the work of our very own in-house expert.

One of the best things about working for Cognifide is the passion of colleagues for their work. It comes out every day in the form of bold innovation, creative thinking and having the guts to try and possibly fail

Passion is a great driver and it was certainly the driving force behind this new, authoritative book, demystifying the world of AI. It's the work of Cognifide Senior QA Engineer, Jedrzej Osinski, better known to his Twitter followers as Dr. Hawaii (thanks to his fabulous taste in Hawaiian shirts).

He’s one of the most knowledgeable guys around when it comes to AI. He’s got a PhD in the subject, is the author of 14 papers and has already co-authored 2 books. He was also recently featured in The Experience Makers podcast, talking about.... yep, you guessed it, the future of AI. So, it’s no surprise that his latest work, Cunning Machinesis being published in March by CRC Press, part of the Taylor & Francis Group.

Here’s what it’s all about, in the publisher’s words.

There are many myths and misconceptions that make artificial intelligence complex and confusing. But the truth is that the foundations of AI are not rocket science. You don’t need a PhD to understand how a basic neural network works. In fact, you don’t even need computer skills. Cunning Machines: Your Pocket Guide to the World of Artificial Intelligence explains the main concepts: what does AI really mean, where do we find it, how do scientists try to evaluate it, what are its main limitations and what future can we expect with it?

It also describes the most popular AI techniques in an easy-to-digest form:

  • Artificial neural networks
  • Genetic algorithms
  • The Monte Carlo method
  • Natural language processing
  • Ontologies and their applications

Although the book is for everyone who wants to know more about AI, it’s particularly targeted at educators, business leaders and those in the media, wanting to better understand the brave new world of AI. It will be available from 2nd March in hardback, paperback and as an Ebook, but you can pre-order on Amazon now

So, please try it, buy it and share it.

Kudos, Jedrzej, what a great achievement!
