We understand how important that first step into the world of business is. So we designed a Summer Career Start Up programme for students.
We love Spring at Cognifide! It’s not just the longer days and sunshine that are cheering us up. It’s the countdown to our Career Start Up internship programme which, this year, will see even more students join us for a Summer of learning and work experience.
Career Start Up was dreamed up at our office in Poznań, Poland, 3 years ago. Having trialled a few different internship schemes, we decided to use our learnings to design what we felt could be the perfect path for young people beginning their journey in technology. Career Start Up is a paid internship programme that runs through the Summer holiday, offering students the opportunity to continue working when the new academic year begins on a part-time basis, with a flexible schedule.
It was designed to support students in developing their skills in various areas, from programming to testing, to managing projects, to name a few. In the last 3 years we’ve received over 1,100 applications and taken on 74 students for a Summer Internship. A staggering 83% of them have stayed at Cognifide as permanent or part-time employees.
So what’s the plan for 2019?
According to the latest City Halls survey, there are 6,000 computer science students in Poznań and 2,500 in Bydgoszcz. Our recruitment teams are currently looking for the most talented among them. Our favourite part of the process is meeting would-be recruits at University job fairs. So far this year we’ve met students at our partner universities, The Poznan University of Technology and Adam Mickiewicz University. And we visited Poznań University of Economics and the University of Science and Nature in Bydgoszcz. We have met over 450 students and gained some really valuable feedback on their expectations and needs. We always listen carefully and shape our offer to continually improve it for young professionals.
Keep your options open
This year we’ve opened up 6 academies to support student development in the following areas:
- Software Development Academy (Java)
- Front-end Academy
- QA & Testing Academy
- Project Management Academy
- IT Academy
- DevOps Academy
Whatever the role, our interns are mentored by experienced experts. They’ll experience our renowned induction programme and develop their knowledge in one of the world’s best digital technology teams. The most intensive part of the graduation scheme focuses on a live project where students work alongside our regular project team. Our former interns tell us that what they really value is the constant feedback from their mentors. After 12 weeks of Career Start Up, students can decide if they’d like to join the company part-time, combining it with their continued education.
The good news is that we’re still recruiting the 2019 cohort. And it’s not all hard work, our alumni tell us it’s huge fun and a really positive experience. Check out their video here.
If it sounds like it could be for you, check out the details of the programme here. At each step of the recruitment process we’ll get to know you better and begin to understand the way in which you solve technical challenges. Let’s meet at Cognifide!
Mateusz, SD InternCareer Startup is nothing like those "bring me coffee, read some documentation" internships out there. I've worked in a real project with real, living code and awesome people that treated me as one of them and were always eager to help and share their knowledge (by the way the coffee is really good).
Zuzanna, TPM InternFrom the very beginning of my internship I felt like it was the right place to kick off my career path. I was given freedom to complete tasks independently and it has taught me a lot. At the same time I developed as a team member and improved my leadership skills. I’m happy that I’ve joined Cognifide!
We're always looking for new faces to join the Cognifide family. Take a look at our available jobs.
