We’re particularly passionate about supporting education, the environment and inclusion and diversity. In fact, in the last 5 years we’ve organised and participated in dozens of CSR projects and initiatives that have benefited people in these areas. For instance, Cognifide volunteers provide computer science classes in local schools; we promote inclusion - particularly in technology - supporting initiatives such as Rails Girls, Devoxx4Kids, techmums, “Dobra” Cafe (run by people with disabilities) and Project Shoebox, an initiative that helps women in domestic abuse shelters.
We’ve also implemented lots of improvements in our own environments to reduce our ecological footprint. In fact, about a quarter of our employees are involved in volunteering and sharing their expert knowledge with others. You can read more here.
So it’s fantastic when our efforts are recognised. Not because we thrive on the recognition, but because it helps to drive further awareness and promote sustainability more widely in the public domain.
For the last two years, we have been recognised by “Politics” magazine in Poland, where our Engineering Centre (our largest office) is based, with a highly regarded White Leaf for CSR. And just a couple of weeks ago we were awarded the Grand Prix in “The Ace of Responsible Business” ranking, which promotes the best sustainability practices in companies in the Poznan area.
It was great to be included in this ranking with other companies who are doing some really admirable work in the sustainability arena: Cieciółka Auto Group and Veoila Energy Poland (for their environment efforts); Solaris Bus and Coach (labour practices), Vilmorin Garden (sustainable business governance); Bridgestone and Duda Foundation (support for the community) and ABC Czepczyński (supporting diversity).
This is not our first appearance in the “The Ace of Responsible Business” ranking. In 2013 we were awarded for our sustainable labour practices for the first time. This year’s win recognises our engagement in sustainability, not only in the Poznan region, but across all our Cognifide offices. The Jury emphasised the diversity and complexity of our initiatives and our involvement in so many areas of CSR.
